Our T-Club members did their part to help British Birds this National Nest Box week by collaborating with Men in Sheds and building their very own nest boxes.
National Nest Box Week is an established part of the ornithological calendar. Running for a week from 14 February each year, National Nest Box Week provides a welcome focus on nesting birds and encourages everyone to put up nest boxes in their local area in order to support the conservation of our breeding birds. National Nest Box Week was established and developed by BTO and Britain’s leading birdcare specialist Jacobi Jayne. It takes place at a time when tradition has it that small birds pair up ahead of the breeding season.
Our T-Club members, under instruction from volunteers of Men in Sheds, built a number of beautiful wooden nest boxes. It was a fantastic afternoon, all of our members enjoyed rolling their sleeves up and getting involved.
We would like to say a special thank you to Mike, Johnny and Vinnie from Men in Sheds who led the session for us.
T-Club is our monthly social group, funded by Brightlife for those aged 50 and above. Usually meeting every third Tuesday of the month in Dial House Café, Hamilton Place, Chester – which is a fully accessible meeting place. The social group is a user-led initiative, where you, as a member, have a say in what activities take place. A nominal fee is charged for each activity dependent on it’s nature.
If you like the sound of our T-Club sessions, take a look at our schedule for the coming months here and book your place. We would love to see you there!
