The ancient Chinese martial art of Tai Chi is thought to have been developed in the 13th Century during the Zhou Dynasty. The art itself, which is also known as Shadow Boxing, is commonly used as a form of self-defence and as a way of improving your health.
Nowadays the art is practiced worldwide with close to four million participants last year in the United States alone. So last week T-club members decided to take on the challenge and participate in a taster session located in the beautiful setting of Grosvenor Park.
The session itself started at 11am and lasted for one hour. The fully qualified instructor, Donna, certainly put the group through their paces with exercises aimed to improve posture, mobility and strength in the legs.
We would like to take a moment to say a special thank you to Donna for running the taster session. Sessions run every Thursday in Grosvenor Park; if you want to attend it is advised that you wait at the conservatory of the GIFT Café of the old Lodge House.
As well as being an excellent instructor, Donna is also a Dementia Friend so any kind donations would be greatly appreciated, with a suggested donation of £4pp to allow the classes to continue.
