Disability Equality Training
Provides an understanding of both the medical and the social models of disability; an awareness of equality legislation – the Equality Act 2010; a knowledge of disability facts and figures. The prevalence of disability as defined by the Equality Act; a recognition of the business case for organisations to be trained in disability equality; and practical advice as to what terminology and language to use. There are two options available:
- Option 1: 2-hour condensed session
- Option 2: Half day sessions (3.5 hours)
Welfare Benefits Workshops/Training
Dial can deliver talks, other presentations, workshops or training courses on Disability-related subjects such as welfare benefits. The format and content can be specifically tailored to the needs of your organisation.
Undertaken to appraise defined areas of buildings, spaces and places to assess the extent of accessibility to services and facilities; and propose the extent of works required to improve the current facilities. The access audit identifies barriers to access against a pre-determined criteria and makes recommendations for improvements, where appropriate. It is prepared in accordance with:
British Standards Institution (BSI) (2018). BS 8300: 2018, Design of an accessible and inclusive built environment:
Part 1: External environment – Code of practice; and
Part 2: Buildings – Code of practice
- HM Government (2010a) Equality Act 2010.
- HM Government (2015) Approved Document M: Volume 2 – Access to and Use of Buildings other than dwellings.
Disabled Access Support for Events
Expert advice when planning an event to ensure an accessible and enjoyable experience for all event attendees, together with support for event organisers to comply with the Equality Act 2010.
For example our Shopmobility team can attend your outdoor event to provide mobility scooters, wheelchairs and other equipment for your visitors.
