The title of the Dial West Cheshire Photographic Competition is “Pawfect Pet Competition”. There are four categories: 

  • Cute Cats & Kittens 
  • Devoted Dogs 
  • Small Furries and Feathered Friends 
  • Scaly Stars and Curious Creatures

The decision of the judges as to the eligibility of individual photographs is final. 

Entrants can submit up to four photographs in total, with a maximum of two photographs in any single category.

An entry may be a print or a digital image. 

A print must be unframed. It must be at least as large as a standard postcard (105 mm x 148 mm) and a maximum of A3 size (297 mm x 420 mm)  

A digital image must in JPEG format and the file size must be under 2mb.

Images can be in colour or black and white. 

Entrants submitting prints must mark each print with their name, address, contact telephone number and email address.  Prints may be submitted in person or by post.  In person prints must can be submitted at Dial House, Hamilton Place, Chester CH1 2BH or any of our Shopmobility sites (please see website for address details). Postal entries should be sent to: Pawfect Pet Competition, Dial West Cheshire, Dial House, Hamilton Place, Chester CH1 2BH. 

Entrants wishing to email their entry should use: with “Pawfect Pet Competition Entry” as the subject line. 

All entries must be accompanied by the full payment of £3 per entry. Any entries received without payment, will not be considered for entry into the competition. Cheques payable to Dial West Cheshire.

All Entries must be received by 5pm, 14th June 2024. 

Entrants must not be professional photographers.  For the purposes of this competition, a professional photographer is considered to be someone who makes more than half their annual income from the sale of their photographs. 

Entrants under the age of 18 need the verifiable consent of a parent or guardian to enter. 

An entry must feature one or more real pets. It must not be generated by Artificial Intelligence. 

Processing of the captured image by cropping, exposure adjustment, colour correction, noise minimisation, dodging/ burning, HDR, focus stacking and sharpening, is allowed.  Cloning of image defects and distractions, including overlapping elements, are permitted when these do not distort the truth of the photographic statement. 

All entries must be the original work of the entrant and must not infringe the rights of any other party. The entrants must be the sole owner of copyright in all photographs entered and must have obtained permission of any people featured in the entries (or their parents/guardians if children aged under 16 are featured.) 

Entrants will retain copyright in the photographs they submit. By entering the competition all entrants grant to Dial West Cheshire the right to publish and exhibit their photographs on their website, in print and across all social media channels in perpetuity. The photographs may be used for publicity purposes. Dial West Cheshire will make every effort to credit photographers but cannot guarantee that every use will include the photographers’ names. Please note that images may be shared more widely if picked up from social media channels. 

The Judging Panel will select a winner from each category and each of the winners will receive a £25 Chester Gift Card prize.

Prize winners will be selected and the results will be announced at Dial House on Friday 21st June.  Individual prize winners will receive notification by email on that date.

Dial West Cheshire accepts no responsibility for the return of any entries. 

Dial West Cheshire accepts no responsibility for entries lost, damaged or delayed whether due to transmission errors, website malfunction, computer error or otherwise.  Intellectual property rights and data protection. 

By entering, entrants will be deemed to have agreed to be bound by these rules and Dial West Cheshire reserves the right to exclude any entry from the competition at any time and in its absolute discretion if it has reason to believe that the entrant has breached these rules or acted fraudulently in any way or brings Dial West Cheshire into disrepute. 

Dial West Cheshire reserves the right to cancel this competition or alter any of the rules at any stage, if deemed necessary in its opinion and if circumstances arise outside of its control. 

These rules are governed by the laws of England and Wales. This competition is administered by Dial West Cheshire. 

Privacy Notice 

To enter the competition, you have provided us with your personal data including your photographic entry.  Dial West Cheshire is the ‘data controller’ of this information.  Dial West Cheshire processes your personal data on the basis of its legitimate interests. If you are shortlisted or successful in winning the competition Dial West Cheshire reserves the right to retain your data indefinitely.  If you are unsuccessful, your data will be retained for 12 months after the competition closes, at which point it will be destroyed.  Data protection law gives you rights in relation to your personal data, including the right to request from the controller access to and rectification or erasure of your personal data or restriction of its processing and to object to its processing.  Dial West Cheshire will protect your details and will not share your data with any third parties without your permission.
