In reaction to the Coronavirus Pandemic halting any face to face consultations, our Advice Line was launched and publicised in March. Our friendly team of welfare benefits specialists have been on duty every week, taking hundreds of calls from local people needing our assistance.
One such call came from the Father (we’ll call him Steve), of a boy with autism who had been supporting his son for a number of years unaware of what benefits his son should be entitled to. Enter our team of advisors.
A chat with Steve and a benefits entitlement check, revealed that his son was not receiving his entitlement to a Severe Disability Premium. Dial West Cheshire supported him in contacting The Department for Work and Pensions to request his son receive this benefit and also the backdated amount due.
Thanks to our advice and guidance through the system, Steve received backdated benefits totalling £13000 for the past three years his son has missed out on his entitlement. This meant he was able to buy items to help improve his son’s quality of life and, for the future, relieve the added worry of financial pressures.
