Every year the gentleman and lady Captain of Chester Golf Club have the arduous task of choosing a charity of the year for the club to support. This year, the Captains, Paul Walker and Gail Powell, chose to support Dial West Cheshire. We are honoured and privileged to have been chosen.
Chester Golf Club will be holding various fundraising events such as charity open competitions, dedicated charity days, player forfeits and bucket collections throughout the year. Not only will these raise valuable funds for Dial West Cheshire, they are supporting us hugely in raising awareness of our vision of a society where disabled people and older people can participate equally as full citizens.
Recently, a team of our volunteers went along to the club’s charity open competition armed with cakes and sweet treats to serve to the deserving golfers when they reached the halfway house. It was a beautiful sunny day and we met lots of hungry and thirsty golfers, some of whom had travelled all the way from the likes Yorkshire to experience the beautiful course afforded to Chester Golf Club.
The charity open competition was a resounding success with Chester Golf Club raising a huge £2000 for Dial West Cheshire!
We would like to say a special thank you to all at Chester Golf Club not just for choosing us, but for all the hard work of their teams and kind donations of their members that have enabled this to happen.
We are looking forward to our next fundraising event at Chester Golf Club in August where we will be sending another group of volunteers to help out at the halfway house during their charity day.
It is valuable donations like these that enable our largely volunteer-led organisation to do the valuable work it does for disabled people in our community.
We are always looking for more ways to fundraise. If you think your organisation would like to select us as charity of the year or hold a fundraising event, please get in touch with our fundraising team and we can work with you to create something spectacular.
