Chair of the Board of Directors

At Dial West Cheshire we improve the lives of disabled people. We’re seeking a new Chair to lead our Board which oversees governance and provides strategic leadership of our charity. This rewarding role is an exciting opportunity for someone willing to give up some of their time and help make a real difference to our charity and the many people we support.

What will I be doing?

The duties of the Chair are outlined below:

Chair Role Description

Board of Directors Role Description

What skills and personal qualities will I need?

Experience of disability will be an advantage, but not essential. Passion and commitment are equally important to us.

We are particularly keen to hear from people able to provide leadership to the organisation and the Board, and those willing to gain an intimate knowledge of our vision and values, as well as the charity and other regulations that we work within. We welcome interest from anyone with skills, knowledge and experience which might be relevant.

You don’t need to be an expert; we value all different kinds of experience from people of all ages and backgrounds. Join our team and we will help you develop into the role.

How much time will I need to commit?

As a minimum, the role involves attendance at approximately 8 – 10 meetings a year plus occasional follow-up work and time spent with the Chief Officer, with opportunities to get more actively involved if you wish depending upon your interests. In return, we can offer you:

  • Payment of expenses (the role is unpaid)
  • Training
  • Contacts and networking opportunities

As a member of the Board, Directors/Trustees can develop a range of skills, experience and contacts which are applicable beyond our sector. They do so whilst making a valuable contribution to the essential work of Dial West Cheshire.

Where will I be based?

This is a hybrid volunteering opportunity with a mixture of home working, online meetings and meetings in Chester.

How to Apply?

You can apply by completing the contact form, here, and letting us know which volunteer role you’re interested in applying for and why. Alternatively, you could call us on 01244 345655 and request an informal chat with our Chief Officer, Keith Roper.
